Terpenes are a group of organic compounds commonly found in plants and are primarily responsible for the aromatic characteristics of cannabis. While cannabinoids are often assumed to be the sole inducer of marijuana’s therapeutic effects, terpenes have been shown to interact in symbiotic conjunction with cannabinoids to modulate the plant’s medicinal properties and contribute to its overall effects. Anresco laboratories routinely performs terpene profiling utilizing GC-MS (Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry) to quantify the following 27 terpenes:
